Idk if it's a bug but they will disband. Remember it takes FOREVER to happen. So plan ahead because you won't be using that companion for a while. Or you could remove troop from that party, so only one of your companion will enter 'refugee' state, and went missing for a while. It would still occupy party slot, though.

You have a castle.. go to it. Your family is on other side of map. Assign one to be governor of castle. POOF hes there. now remove him, and put him in party. Do same for other family. You can move all 3 of them instantaneously.. And I really hope they don't patch this out. Running for 3 weeks to find lost companions or family is boring, and not
Gift them your entire inventory while they're in your party. Everything stays in your inventory but you gain relation for just showing them what you own, I guess. For regular companions you can't do this though, but what you can do is release their party from your army while chasing an enemy army. When they start chasing the enemy army, call
Go to Clan page. You can disband them there. It takes a little while ( a few minutes ) for them to get the memo but they'll disband eventually. The party leader disappears for a few minutes too, and spawn at the closest town owned by your race ( Vlandian or Battanian or Empire town depending your character race ) or at a town you own. #1
It should be as easy as commenting them out of module_troops and the corresponding dialogue references in module_scripts and module_strings, but when I do that, the remaining companions dialogues get completely screwed up, with some intros going to the wrong people, etc. But all I really need
